How are ratings calculated?

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don't use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. This is a solid flip phone. I've never heard of Nuu, but they aren't bad. Phone works great. Texting is easy. You can switch it to predictive T9. Camera is not the best, but to be expected since it's only 2mp. You don't buy this phone for the camera. Only had one call come in. Seemed to be pretty clear. Not hard to get around the menu. Just play around with it and you'll figure it out! I just love flipping it open closed. Reminds me of my high school days. 👍🏼

First of all, this phone is a solid value for the money. It feels sturdy and the buttons respond nicely to presses. We got this phone for our daughter as her first phone. I did the deed of getting it activated and general setup and initial testing before handing it over. Know that this phone is running a light version of Android OS. As such, it really was designed to be run on a touch interface, so it takes a bit of getting used to to see which button does what and when (they can't label the buttons because they have multiple functions depending on what you're doing). Once you get the hang of it, it is quite simple. The description touts this phone being able to access Facebook and WhatsApp (and a browser) but I wouldn't dare attempt use of them on a flip phone (without a touch screen) unless you have the patience of a saint. If what you need is a phone that calls and texts, this phone is a solid choice. I'd give it 5 stars except that it just doesn't have the polish of some other basic phones that don't try to do as much as this phone does. I think the manufacturer really is trying to make a phone that is a bridge between a basic and smartphone. It does basic phone features just fine, but if you are looking for more than a flip phone, get a real smartphone instead of this.

I am interested only in texting and phone calls. I am not interested in having the internet or any apps on my phone. I purchased one for my wife and on for me. Both phones arrived on time and in working order. The documentation that comes with the phone is minimal. The instructions on the website are a little better but still at a fairly high level. The phone is slow and doesn't boot up quickly. I had flip phones before so the first task was to find out what the soft keys snd other keys do. I am not trying to do complicated things so it didn't take long to get orientated. The center key opens the menu and the available selection of features is obvious. Entering phone numbers is laborious. There is a strange system foe entering phone numbers. You don't just push the keys with multiple letters until you get the letter you want. Usually to enter a "B" I always pushed the ABC key 2 times. On this phone you would press the ABC key once. At the bottom of the screen the phone displays A B C. You then use the 4 navigation keys to get to the letter you want and then press the key in the center of the navigation keys. to enter the number. The texting uses pushing the key multiple times to get to the desired letter. Again the documentation isn't great but it's not too hard to figure out.
The display is bright and easier to read than on my previous flip phone. The standby life isn't great. It lasts between 3 and 4 days if you don't use the phone too much. My previous phone would go for a week when the batteries were new. The volume in the ear piece is OK and the construction looks sturdy. Can't comment on the camera since I have no interest in taking pictures. Overall it is doing the low tech things I want it to do.

This item is beyond terrible, it has pre set buttons that can only do things like use certain apps, and once you press the button there is no way, no possible way, no way to even disable the annoying applications. This flip phone has done nothing but cause anger and frustration. This is most definitely not a premium alternative to a basic flip phone. It does not even boot faster than a far cheaper alcatel. Waste of money, and time trying to contact their help department.

I am a 30 year old who quit smartphones a couple years ago and have never looked back. So when Verizon said they were going to shut down 3G basic phones, I went on the hunt for a well priced 4g basic phone. Of course they make 4G flippy's cost 300$ to incentivize you to buy a smart phone.
So I bought this one for the great price and simple features. The phone is cool; buttons are large enough to T9 text without looking at the keyboard.... but Verizon said they couldn't activate it. I took it to a dealer store and a corporate store and neither said they could activate it.

Tolerable feature phone, but the UI as well as navigation to do anything is rather cumbersome. This NEW device came with no instructions in the box. You would expect that getting to various services the device has, i.e contacts, messaging, calendar, etc, would be snappy and pretty intuitive for this type of device, you would be wrong. It takes the device 5 seconds to respond to any sort of input in opening a new selection and have it load. In an unaltered new out of the box state, sending a new message requires you to press the center button, navigate to messaging, unintuitively pressing the upper left button to bring up a menu to then get the option to write a new message. After writing the message, you have to navigate to the cursor to the lower right and make sure its highlighted, and then pressing the center button to send. I cannot recommend this phone to anyone at all.

This phone is really rather shockingly clumsy. I've been a long term flip phone user (since college), and it has pushed me over to feeling like I need to transition to a smart phone. I use my phone primarily for texting and phone calls with secondary use as an alarm & camera. It is difficult to text on because of the poor interface, use of k-t9 (rather than the other t-9), delay in letters appearing, limited dictionary, inablility to control capitalization, and extremely limited symbols. It won't receive photos, group texts, or large texts, and one person has reported that it sends back every text they send me. The general phone is hard to use because of the delay in dialing, non standard buttons, lack of speed dial, and poor reception from if your mouth is further than a half inch from the speaker opening. The general shape is large, clumsy, and feels cheap. I would not recommend.
